A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams is one of the pieces of literature that I found most interesting to learn and read about. Throughout this lecture, we learned about false appearances and fantasy versus reality through setting, symbolism, and motifs. Deception plays a major role in this piece, which made me want to keep reading and learn more. By the end of this piece, the tables have been turned and it had me shocked. The characters in the story all face conflicts whether they are external, internal, or both. Another major theme we learned about was the inability to accept the truth and instead they all lived in their own little fantasies. These characters created fantasies for how they lived their lives because they were afraid of being judged and also because they wanted to forget their dark pasts and create a new life that they believe is “the perfect life”.
